Air Conditioning

It still surprises us that many people think that air conditioners just keep you cool in summer.

Today’s air conditioning systems provide a range of features including:

  • Cooling
  • Heating
  • Dehumidification
  • Deodorising
  • Allergen filtering

Modern systems also come feature packed including:

  • 24 hour programmable on / off timer settings
  • Auto off
  • Human sensing
  • Eco operation automatic monitoring
  • Economy mode
  • Hi Power quick start up
  • Silent running
  • Password protection
  • Child lock
  • Night setback
  • LED brightness adjustment
  • Self clean
  • Washable filter
  • WiFi compatible
  • App controlled

Another huge benefit of modern air conditioning systems is their high efficiency.

The heat pump technology in air conditioning systems is by its nature inherently more efficient than standard boiler wet systems. This is because it works by absorbing the heat occurring naturally in the air.

The efficiency of heat pumps can reach as high as 350% – It costs you 1kW of electricity to get over 3kW of heating or cooling energy out of the air conditioner.

Compare that to old boiler systems which are considered to be 50 – 75% efficient. Even newer high efficient boilers are only achieving approx 90% efficiency. They can never achieve the high efficiencies of heat pumps because they cannot harvest the already free heat energy in the air.

And that’s just the efficiency benefit gained from the physics of the refrigeration cycle in a heat pump air conditioning system. Further efficiencies are now achieved with variable speed inverter technology driven compressors.

This now sees modern air con units attaining a domestic energy factor rating of between A+ & A+++.
